The staff of the V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine sincerely congratulates Academician V.K. Zadiraka and Academician O.M. Khimich of the NAS of Ukraine on the publication of the textbook “Introduction to Quantum Cryptology”. This is the first textbook on quantum informatics and quantum cryptography co-authored and published in Ukraine.
The first part of the textbook explores the fundamental principles of quantum informatics. The security of modern information systems and technologies relies on the robustness of cryptographic transformations used for processing information. By applying quantum algorithms such as Shor’s and Grover’s, certain mathematical problems can be solved with polynomial complexity. The ideas of harnessing the power of the quantum environment were introduced by Paul and Feynman. What matters is not only the fact of building a quantum computer but also the technical characteristics it will possess.
The creation of quantum computers opens fundamentally new opportunities for humanity, but it also renders today’s information protection methods ineffective. The need for quantum-safe, or so-called post-quantum cryptography, is already evident today.
