Uzhhorod National University together with V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the NAS of Ukraine and Kyiv Academic University decided to start a series of competitions to increase interest to science and popularize some scientific areas. The first competition will take place from April 25 to May 8 this year and will relate to the well-known traveling salesman problem.
Participants' solutions will be verified on different sets of tests. For each test, the participant will receive a certain number of points, which will depend on the ratio of the answer of his program and the optimal solution. The winners will be those ones who score the most points. In case of the same number of points, the winner will be the one whose program will run faster. The winners will receive cash prizes:
- for the first place - UAH 5,000
- for the second - UAH 3,000
- for the third - UAH 2,000
The competition will be held on the famous Ukrainian Internet portal Eolymp by the link: http://salesman.eolymp.io.
The organizers of the planned cycle of competitions are the Department of Non-Smooth Optimization Methods of the Institute of Cybernetics (Head of the Department - Petro Stetsyuk), the Department of Information Control Systems and Technologies of Uzhhorod University (Head of the Department - Oleksandr Mitsa) and Kyiv Academic University (Deputy Directors - Oleksandra Antonyuk and Vitaliy Shadura).
